Vive the keenan's peg!

The Eastenders juggernaut rolled on again last night, another victory, a close tussle but we prevailed 6 sets to5. The teams games again set us up-first a triple win ,then two double wins so we were ahead 3 -2 when the singles started. Martin continued his stellar form at No.1 knocking off their very good player 2-1 and Ron won his 2-0. Ron had to resort to a Keenan peg though. For those who are not into Darts jargon a Keenan peg is when you miss the number you were aiming at but use your remaining darts to peg out by going round the board and finishing on a double as required, instead of the orthodox way. To add to your knowledge a "Ron Moir" is when you go for triple 19 and hit double 19 which is a good score and is incredibly lucky as one mm south you would have missed the board. A "Ron Moir" is a good tactic as it pisses your opponent off no end. A Keenan peg is a similar dispiriting thing as it leaves your opponent not only a loser but a sore loser too! So Ron pulled out a classic triple 11 double 9 to peg 51 and a 2, 2 double 1 when we were all sure he was going for double 3 at the time. However our middle singles of Ralph and Ant both lost so it was up to me, Captain Mal, to win as it seemed unlikely that Chris would as his opponent had great experience. Chris did take a leg off him which is a measure of his improvement and had a shot at double 19 to win the decider but failed. I won my first leg in a normal fashion pegging double 8 and the second leg was close in scoring as he had the shot. I missed a shot at a 99 peg by hitting an eight instead of double 16 and when my opponent missed his double top I had 24 to get. First dart double 5 (next door) second dart outside and third dart double 7. Classic Keenan peg. Two doubles instead of one!Game set and match to the East Enders!
One game at a time, keep a lid on it, watch out for the danger game next week against the Annies Angels who are bottom, go East Enders!

Strange Days Indeed

Strange that Collingwood were $4.60 a win and West Coast $3.60 a win and I pointed that out to Don when he called and said I thought both were a reasonable bet in a two horse race and couldnt work out why the odds were so good.. And they both got up. One I picked the otherI didnt so my hopes of getting closer to King Jim in the footy tipping were dashed. By the way they dropped marks and refused to run to gain possession there was certainly a lack of quality from star players in the losing sides. Mind you both teams were probably getting a bit ahead of themselves or else the players know a few Indian bookies.
Nah! I'm just a cynic
