Out of the Finals

As the song goes" I don't want to talk about it, how we broke their hearts" well it almost goes like that. And the hearts we broke were the ones belonging to the collective wives who turned up to barrack for their husbands and son playing in the East Enders darts team.
We did ourselves proud in the teams games and headed into the singles 4-1 up needing to win two.
this was exactly the same position we were in during the regular season when we last played the Macs 7 and exactly the same thing unfolded in the singles, needing to win 2 we won 1. This time Ron was the sole winner and I had three darts at double 19 to win the lot, missed left myself double 8 but never got a shot as my opponent pegged 58! Don had nine darts in total to win the lot obviously missing all of them and his opponent eventually pegged the double five he had continually busted up to then! Martin played like a woolly goat and hardly got a shot at a double and Ant and Ralph also went down 2-0. Bummer!
So I went from hero to zero and Don went from zero and stayed there! In our spouses eyes that is.
I had pegged both doubles in the doubles game, Ralph had pegged both doubles in his doubles game and Ant had pegged all four doubles in his triples and doubles game but when the final crunch came we were found wanting.
Still not many finals go down to the last leg of the last single and the watching crowd got full entertainment, small solace!
But the sun came up the same today, I know because I couldn't sleep so saw Old Sol crest the gum trees as I took Banjo for a ride in the fog and Geelong and Adelaide are still in their finals with a chance so "Here's looking at you, kid"
Go Cats!
