Emulation

The only trophies in the darts cabinet lately have been son John's and I have had to receive them on his behalf as he has been away working. What's that you say, John, working, but it's a fact and it's also a fact that he has got four trophies this year and I have been empty handed.
And the way I played summer darts last night then it may be a fact that empty handed I shall be for a while longer.
The highlight was getting Don Mathys to come along and he is now a committed player so along with Ant and RonI will have at least three players I can beat! Although the teams have been set and Ron is actually on my side so .....
I have been away from the Blogging world as after Geelong won a premiership what else is there to see and enjoy! My world has been complete and I have been logging onto the Geelong Advertiser website to follow up all the latest photos and news. But now the new seasons draw is out and last years noble feats have paled as the new season dawns. How transient is pleasure and indeed, life.
The dogs are a fit bundle of shit running to Nangwarry and back with ease and then on the days I don't take them as far( as it has been windy and wet), they dig great holes all over the place. Even they don't crap enough to fill the holes, this is the cure for hole digging I am told, fill their holes with their droppings and they wont dig there again. True, they just dig alongside it instead.
If ever I kick them out of their yard then I will have the best pumpkin patch ever. Sooner or later every patch will have been dug up as far as the water table. But they look gorgeous in spring with their glistening black coats and eager orange eyes charging around the corner to greet us when we call them up for a walk or better still(for them) a run. they are missing John not taking them out for the second dash around the pines and in consolation we have been taking them down to the Mount and walking around the Blue Lake.
The Blue Lake is nearly it's deep summer blue and a lovely sight to gaze on as you stroll around it's perimeter with a handful of Kelpies and your wife breezing alongside. The theory is that it turns its colour on the new moon in November which is next week so we shall certainly have to saunter down then to see if the theory is correct. It was pronounced by an old boss of mine back when Nuran and I first arrived in Mount Gambier and has proven true on nearly every year since but it may be just a coincidence as 36 years is not a long time to test a geological theory but a bloody long time just the same.
We had to bring a fridge down to the Mount to get fixed and used Ron's high sided trailer for the job. So the Kelpies got a ride in the trailer for the experience and seemed to enjoy it. Jim used to do that for his dogs and its a lot nicer than having two panting pooches in the back seat but its only a borrowed trailer so cant be used for every trip.It can be used whilst Ron is away in Tasmania and the fridge is ready tomorrow so they will get a ride back when we return the trailer on Thursday.
I actually did a spoke on the mountain bike that Jim gave me, no surprise given that it does at least 20kms a day through puddles and over rough tracks but it went off like rifle shot. I had just started my ride back from the Nangwarry Timber Museum so it was a wobbly slow ride from then on as the wheel goes out of shape and hits the brake pads on every revolution, and I am here to tell you that there are a lot of wheel revolutions between Nangwarry and here! No wonder I am so fit.
Anyway the timber Museum is a better volunteer day than the school was and keeps me fitter so every cloud has a silver lining, might take the dogs up there next week as one of the other guys brings his pooch so they can have a ball crapping and digging holes in fresh dirt together.
Keep smiling as it makes you look prettier you ugly .....
