Dogs equal Crap

Now I wonder if this should be titled dogs love crap. If they are not eating crap, IE Kangaroo droppings,or rolling in crap, IE Buddha joyfully finding a bit of shit on the oval and rolling in it, then they are having a crap.I took them over to the oval for a bit of a play ans they were playful however whilst I threw a ball to Banjo Buddha found a better thing to do, roll in a pile of shit. I admonished Buddha and got him to the tap on the oval and gave him a good cold bath in tap water and sent him home. There, having towelled him and fed him, along with Banjo, I thought I would give him some cruel and unusual punishment by locking him in the yard and allowing Banjo roam free. This backfired when Banjo found the gate to the middle back lawn open and proceeded with glee to waltz all over the lawn and do a dump in the middle of it. I glanced through the laundry window and spied the deed in progress and roared a warning which cut the motion in mid stride and sent Banjo back to the dog yard in haste.Bloody dogs. So he was secured in the dog yard along with his partner in a different crime ,Buddha. and there they can stay instead of coming in to the games room and being fed biscuits whilst lounging on.... the.... well lounge..,
The more you spoil them the more they become like dogs.
What is it that makes dogs so synonymous with shit? One of the worst things you can be called is a dirty dog! Well there is no such thing as a clean dog unless he has been given a cold bath in tap water. So dog would be sufficient!
I was thinking that I should go out tomorrow and gather up all the fresh 'roo shit I can find then put it in their bowl for breakfast. But then I realised that they will probably eat it and then come to lick me in gratitude. Yuk!

That was the week that was

Well the dogs and I didn't go to Casterton after all as the day was not that good and they were less energetic seeing as their rations had been cut , we just did a lazy 10 kms along the Hundred line track and back along Rust Rd. We saw 'roos but the dogs never left my side and were rewarded with full rations.
Nuran and I went shopping as usual on Thursday as this was pay day and came back with the usual boot load of groceries and a marrow bone for the dogs to share. We also came back with the thickest two T bones Wollies had and I cooked them and two more regular ones on the BBQ as that is the only way to properly cook T Bones. No matter that the evening was frosty as long as there isn't a wind blowing the trusty old BBQ still gets hot enough and the couple of home brews that it takes to cook the meal warms the cockles of your heart anyway. That was our celebratory meal, we are only celebrating pay day and life and it happens every fortnight.
Then there was a bonus for me on Friday as the school had a student free day rostered to enable the teachers to have an even longer weekend so I had a free afternoon after all. they never tell me about this and I don't get a newsletter and they are late putting the current one up on the school website so it is always a surprise when it happens.
Saturday was drama day as Hawthorn Jim's team were playing Sydney in Melbourne and Jim had made the trip down to see the game at the "G". It was drama because Hawthorn played like woolly goats and got beaten and another tip was up the shits. My tipping form has gone downhill but Nuran's has gone up. Mind you she also tipped Hawthorn but at least got all the other winners. This included Geelong beating her team Adelaide on the Sunday. So Sunday was a drama day too and I had to do the vegetables as a penance for my team beating hers. I didn't mind as I like Ainslie roast potatoes so that is what I did. Mind you Nuran had calmed down by the time the vegetables had to be put on so took over. The dogs and I had gone to Nangwarry in the morning and had a good trip up and back with no dramas there so all in all Sunday was a bloody good day.
Monday was a long weekend for no particular reason relevant to Australia being in celebration of the Queens birthday which anyway was back in April. One poor kid didn't realise it and arrived at school complete with back pack as I walked the dogs back across the oval from getting a paper. he didn't believe me when I told him that there was no school but eventually realised that something was up and cycled back home. I wonder what his parents were doing letting him go to school on a holiday, poor tyke.
A ranger followed me in the pines yesterday ( Monday) but the dogs obeyed me and didn't chase any kangaroos even though heaps crossed our path. I didn't even know he was there- he must have spotted me leave Hemmings Lane and go down a Pine Break. Anyway he was satisfied that we were only out for the exercise and not to hunt the 'roos for supper and turned off to leave us go on after having a brief chat. If only he had been there a week ago he may have saved the dogs from being lost and banned us from the bush. The Pines are a designated sanctuary but the roads are open game and its only hunting that is banned and not riding. That is the first time in 6 months I have seen a ranger and on a holiday too!
Anyway Hemmings Lane runs from Penola Rd in a tortuous fashion to Ibis Flat Rd left brings you to Rust Rd and right to the Kalangadoo Nangwarry Rd.. The Hundred line is the northern most boundary of the Grant district council and runs dead straight from the Victorian border to Ibis Flat road. It is a road from the Border until Tarpeena (Boully Rd) then becomes an unmade track from Tarpeena to Ibis Flat Road. Ibis Flat road isn't a road at all just a track that runs off Hemmings Lane back to Rust Road. Nor are there any Ibis on the flat as it is covered in Pine Trees. But this is the territory we go riding in. If you go to to this link in Google Maps you get a map that gives you some idea but the sign post says Ibis Flat Rd not Ibis Rd someone has it wrong.
Anyway today is Tuesday , the weather is freezing and is the afternoon I take the maintenance group at the school. We shall fix up the gate we put up a month ago. It is great when its closed but leans a bit when opened so a bit of bracing is on the agenda. It is better than it was before we started the project as it wouldn't either open or close but now at least the school can be secured from vehicles entering into the oval and doing donuts on the grass.
So off to school it is.
