Intelligent Dog

Here is a photo of an intelligent dog kelpie dogone that is true to the breed. Kelpies are renowned for their speed agility and problem solving skills and there is a festival to celebrate the dog at Casterton in a couple of weeks, during time the breed has been refined by the old aged farmers method of culling any mongrel that doesn't work and therefore not allowing the bastard to breed on.
I have one dog that is true to the breed and in fact looks very much like the one in the photo but the other of my dogs,Buddha, is a throwback to a lazy half bred mutt that must have climbed on when his mother was in heat.
So I am toying with the idea of taking Buddha to the Kelpie carnival and letting him loose in the hope some one will take him home as a prize, it will be a booby prize but most people never look a gift horse in the mouth anyway. This is because Nuran won't let me use the old aged culling method on her favourite "take for a walk" dog. At least she knows better than to let the half bred bugger off the lead to roll in anything that remotely resembles a smelly pile of poo.
I have cut both their rations down as I suspect they are becoming lazy mutts and that has worked as both today sped along in front of me on the bike. True I was struggling somewhat as the recent rains have turned various parts of the Pines tracks into bogs which I unsuspectingly plough into thinking they are firm ground and then have to pedal with as much strength as I can muster to get through them. The alternative is falling off the stationary bike in the middle of the patch and having two derisive dogs leer back at me as I splosh through on foot like them. So I keep pedalling. However the bogs slow your forward momentum and mud splashes up your arse from the rear tyre so you get covered in mud on a different part of your body and come back looking decidedly dirty.
Actually it's good fun!
And Buddha kept up today so perhaps the diet has lessened his load a bit. Banjo never puts on weight and John takes him out again so it's no wonder that he stays slim but then he is true to the breed. What we have to do is persuade Buddha that he is a Kelpie and not a Labrador before the Kelpie festival in a couple of weeks..... or else!
